About Ronald Holland II

Holland is an American forward who reached the NBA as a top-five pick in the 2024 draft after a decorated high school career and a professional season with the NBA G League Ignite. Born in Duncanville, Texas, he arrived in the league with extensive prep accolades and international experience with USA Basketball.

Born Ronald Dewayne Holland II on July 7, 2005, he attended Duncanville High School. As a freshman, he averaged 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds as Duncanville won its first state championship since 2007. He elevated his production to 13.8 points and 10.1 rebounds as a sophomore, leading the Panthers to a second straight Texas Class 6A state title.

As a junior, Holland averaged 15.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and two steals per game and led Duncanville to a 35–1 record and a third consecutive state championship. As a senior, he averaged 20.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and two steals while shooting 54.4 percent from the field. He compiled over 1,500 points and 900 rebounds in four years.

Holland was selected to the 2023 McDonald's All-American Boys Game and Team USA in the Nike Hoops Summit. Ranked as a consensus five-star recruit and the top player in Texas, he initially committed to Texas in November 2022. After requesting a release from his National Letter of Intent in April 2023, he bypassed college and signed with the NBA G League Ignite on June 20, 2023.

With the Ignite, Holland averaged 18.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.1 steals in 29 games before suffering a season-ending ruptured tendon in his right thumb in January 2024. The Detroit Pistons selected him fifth overall in the 2024 NBA draft, and he signed with the team on July 6, 2024. He made his NBA debut on October 23, 2024, scoring six points against Indiana.

Holland has also represented USA Basketball at the 2021 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship, where he earned All-Tournament honors and helped the United States win gold, and at the 2022 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup.

Holland plays as a versatile forward with athleticism, defensive intensity, and transition scoring ability. His G League Ignite season demonstrated professional readiness against older competition. In the NBA, his development centers on shooting consistency, offensive decision-making, and defensive versatility on the wing.
