About Micah Peavy

Peavy is an American guard who entered the NBA as a second-round pick in 2025 after a winding college career that included three programs and culminated in a breakout season at Georgetown. Drafted by Washington and traded to New Orleans, he has shown flashes of two-way versatility as a young NBA wing.

Born Micah James Peavy on July 16, 2001, in Houston, Texas, he attended Dekaney High School for his first two years before transferring to Duncanville High School for his junior and senior seasons. As a senior, he averaged 19 points and 7.5 rebounds and was named the TABC Class 6A Player of the Year. He committed to Texas Tech as the No. 32 overall player in the class of 2020.

At Texas Tech, Peavy averaged 5.7 points as a freshman before entering the transfer portal. He transferred to TCU and played three seasons, gradually increasing his production from 6.1 points as a sophomore to 10.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists as a senior. After that season, he transferred again to Georgetown.

At Georgetown, Peavy had a prolific single season. On December 18, 2024, he recorded 20 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, seven steals, and a block in a win over Creighton. On February 19, 2025, he posted 30 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and six steals against Providence. He was named to the All-Big East First Team, becoming the first Hoya to earn that honor since Jessie Govan in 2019.

The Washington Wizards selected Peavy 40th overall in the 2025 NBA draft and traded him to the New Orleans Pelicans. The trade became official on July 6, 2025, and he signed his rookie contract the following day. On April 7, 2026, he scored a career-high 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting in a win over the Utah Jazz.

Peavy is a versatile wing with defensive tenacity, playmaking instincts, and scoring ability. His length and activity make him a disruptive perimeter defender, and his willingness to attack the rim and create for others adds offensive value. He fits best as a two-way rotation player who contributes across multiple statistical categories.

Peavy's step-brother, Anthony Black, also plays in the NBA.
