Kevin Love

Love is an American forward who has built a decorated NBA career spanning more than 15 seasons and multiple franchises since being drafted in the top five in 2008. He has played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Miami Heat, winning a championship with Cleveland and reaching five NBA Finals.

Born Kevin Wesley Love on September 7, 1988, in Santa Monica, California, he is the son of former NBA player Stan Love. He grew up in Lake Oswego, Oregon, where he was childhood friends and Little League teammates with Klay Thompson. He attended Lake Oswego High School and led the Lakers to the 2005 state championship game as a sophomore. As a senior, he averaged 33.9 points, 17.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists.

Love played one season at UCLA, where he led the team to the Final Four and was named a consensus first-team All-American and Pac-10 Player of the Year. He declared for the 2008 NBA draft. The Memphis Grizzlies selected him fifth overall and traded him to Minnesota for O.J. Mayo in an eight-player deal.

In Minnesota, Love established the longest streak for consecutive games with double figures in points and rebounds since the ABA-NBA merger. He was named a five-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA Second Team selection, and won the Most Improved Player award in 2011. He was traded to Cleveland in 2014 and won an NBA championship in 2016. He reached four straight Finals with the Cavaliers and later joined Miami in February 2023.

Love is a versatile forward with elite rebounding, a soft shooting touch, and playmaking vision. He scores on post-ups, face-up jumpers, and three-pointers, and he uses his size to set screens and find open cutters. His outlet passing and basketball IQ have made him one of the most unique players at his position.
