Detroit could become a swing team in the Giannis Antetokounmpo talks.
Marc Stein reported that the Pistons should be monitored as a possible third-team facilitator in an Antetokounmpo-to-Miami trade. The notable piece is Tyler Herro, who could end up in Detroit if the Bucks and Heat need a wider structure.
That is still a reported possibility, not a finished deal.
Detroit's side is easy to understand. The Pistons are coming off a 60-win season and are looking for shooting around Cade Cunningham. Stein wrote that the team has explored the market beyond two difficult targets: Dallas' Kyrie Irving and New Orleans' Trey Murphy III.
Other names are in the mix. Charlotte's Coby White and Oklahoma City's Isaiah Joe are said to interest Detroit. Sacramento's Zach LaVine could also be a name to watch.
LaVine is entering the final year of a large deal and has a $49 million player option with a June 29 deadline.
For Detroit, the theme is clear enough: add shooting without waiting only on the hardest targets. For the Giannis talks, the Pistons may matter if Milwaukee and Miami need another team to route salary.
