About Jaylen Brown

Brown is an American forward who has developed into one of the premier two-way players in the NBA since being selected third overall in 2016. He has spent his entire professional career with the Boston Celtics, earning multiple All-Star selections, All-NBA honors, and a championship ring while forming one of the league's most dynamic duos with Jayson Tatum.

Born Jaylen Marselles Brown on October 24, 1996, in Marietta, Georgia, he attended Wheeler High School. As a junior, he averaged 24.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.0 steals and led the Wildcats to a 29-5 record. As a senior, he averaged 28 points and 12 rebounds and led Wheeler to the Georgia Class 6A state championship, hitting two clutch free throws with 0.6 seconds remaining in the title game. He won a gold medal with USA Basketball at the 2014 FIBA Americas Championship and was named Gatorade Georgia Boys Player of the Year, Georgia Mr. Basketball, and a McDonald's All-American.

Brown committed to California alongside fellow top recruit Ivan Rabb. As a freshman, he averaged 14.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists and was named first-team All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. He declared for the 2016 NBA draft, and the Boston Celtics selected him with the third overall pick.

In Boston, Brown gradually expanded from a rotation player to a franchise cornerstone. He helped the Celtics reach the Eastern Conference Finals six times and the NBA Finals in 2022 and 2024. In 2024, he won his first NBA championship and was named Finals MVP. He has been selected to five All-Star teams and two All-NBA teams.

Brown is a physical, athletic forward with a strong mid-range game, improving three-point shooting, and elite defensive versatility. He uses his strength to finish through contact at the rim, operates in isolation and pick-and-roll settings, and guards the opponent's best perimeter scorer. His offensive package includes pull-up jumpers, post-ups against smaller defenders, and timely cuts off the ball.

Brown enters each season as a championship-winning star and a cornerstone of the Celtics alongside Jayson Tatum. His trajectory from a Georgia high school champion to a top-three pick and Finals MVP reflects consistent improvement, defensive commitment, and a willingness to expand his offensive responsibilities at the highest level.
