About Landry Shamet

Shamet is an American guard who has built a productive NBA career as a shooter and floor-spacer since being drafted in the first round in 2018. He has played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, Washington Wizards, and New York Knicks, earning a reputation as one of the league's most reliable three-point specialists.

Born Landry Michael Shamet on March 13, 1997, in Kansas City, Missouri, he was raised by his mother Melanie, a former volleyball player at Boise State. He attended Park Hill High School in Kansas City and committed to Wichita State for college basketball.

At Wichita State, Shamet redshirted his freshman season due to a foot injury. As a redshirt freshman, he averaged 11.4 points and 3.3 assists and was named First Team MVC All-Conference and MVC Freshman of the Year. He had surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot after the season. As a sophomore, he averaged 14.9 points and 5.2 assists and was named to the Preseason Wooden Award watch list. He declared for the 2018 NBA draft.

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Shamet with the 26th overall pick. On January 8, 2019, he scored a career-high 29 points and set a 76ers rookie record with eight three-pointers. On February 6, 2019, he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. On November 19, 2020, he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets. He has also played for the Phoenix Suns, Washington Wizards, and New York Knicks.

Shamet is an elite shooter with one of the quickest releases in the league. He scores on catch-and-shoot threes, relocates off screens, and has shown the ability to get hot and score in bunches. His size and shooting accuracy make him a valuable floor-spacing option for teams needing perimeter threat.

Shamet enters each season as a veteran guard with multiple franchise tenures and a rookie record on his resume. His trajectory from a Kansas City high school to a Wichita State standout, a first-round pick, and a multi-franchise contributor reflects shooting excellence and a commitment to expanding his offensive arsenal at every level.
