Scotty Pippen Jr.

Pippen is an American guard who reached the NBA through the undrafted free-agent route after a decorated three-year career at Vanderbilt. The son of Hall of Fame small forward Scottie Pippen, he built a résumé as a scoring point guard before earning NBA opportunities with the Lakers and Grizzlies.

Born Scotty Maurice Pippen Jr. on November 10, 2000, in Portland, Oregon, he moved with his family to Florida, where he attended Pine Crest School from kindergarten through tenth grade. Before his junior year, the family relocated to the Los Angeles area, and he transferred to Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, California. At Sierra Canyon, he played alongside future NBA players Marvin Bagley III, Kenyon Martin Jr., and Cassius Stanley. As a senior, he averaged 16.3 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.6 rebounds and helped the team win the California Interscholastic Federation Open Division state title. He committed to Vanderbilt.

At Vanderbilt, Pippen earned SEC All-Freshman Team recognition in 2020. He improved to first-team All-SEC honors in both 2021 and 2022, establishing himself as one of the conference's top guards. Despite his production, he went undrafted in the 2022 NBA draft.

Pippen signed with the Los Angeles Lakers and earned rotational minutes as a two-way player. He later joined the Memphis Grizzlies, continuing his career as a score-first guard with playmaking instincts and defensive tenacity.

Pippen functions as a shifty guard with scoring ability, court vision, and the confidence to run offense in limited minutes. His Vanderbilt tenure showcased a player who could carry a college backcourt despite lacking elite physical tools. In the NBA, his development centers on three-point consistency, defensive discipline, and maximizing his basketball IQ in reserve roles.
