Pete Nance

Nance is an American forward who has navigated the NBA through two-way contracts, 10-day deals, and training camp signings after going undrafted in 2023. A productive big man at Northwestern and North Carolina, he has competed for roster spots while relying on interior scoring, rebounding, and defensive positioning.

Born Pete Lucas Nance on February 19, 2000, in Akron, Ohio, he attended Revere High School and was named the Ohio Division II Player of the Year as a senior. He was a four-star recruit and the highest-ranked recruit in Northwestern history.

At Northwestern, Nance averaged 8.5 points and 6.0 rebounds as a sophomore and 11.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists as a junior. As a senior, he averaged 14.6 points and 6.5 rebounds and was named to the All-Big Ten team. After testing the waters in the 2022 NBA draft, he transferred to North Carolina for his fifth collegiate season. He averaged 10.0 points and 6.0 rebounds for the Tar Heels and declared for the 2023 NBA draft.

After going undrafted, Nance joined the Cleveland Cavaliers for Summer League and signed with the team in September 2023. He was waived and joined the Cleveland Charge. On January 18, 2024, he signed a 10-day contract with the Cavaliers, becoming the third member of the Nance family to play for Cleveland. He later signed two-way contracts and standard deals with Cleveland and Philadelphia. On December 3, 2024, he signed a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Nance is a stretch big with size, a soft touch around the rim, and rebounding instincts. He scores on post moves, short-range jumpers, and offensive rebounds. His frame and mobility suggest rotational potential as a backup big who provides interior presence and scoring.
