About Mark Sears

Sears is an American scoring guard who reached the professional ranks after a prolific college career that spanned the Mid-American Conference and the Southeastern Conference. Named a First Team All-American in his final season, he finished as one of the most productive scorers in Alabama history and among the top twenty in NCAA Division I all-time scoring.

Born Mark Christopher Sears on February 19, 2002, in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, he attended Muscle Shoals High School before transferring to Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia for his senior season. He averaged 14 points, three assists, and five rebounds and helped lead Hargrave to the Final Four of the National Prep Championship with a 37-4 record. He committed to Ohio University for college basketball.

At Ohio, Sears came off the bench as a freshman and averaged 8.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists, earning MAC All-Freshman Team honors. As a sophomore, he averaged 19.6 points, six rebounds, and 4.1 assists and was named First Team All-MAC. He scored a career-high 37 points in a College Basketball Invitational game against Abilene Christian. On March 30, 2022, he entered the transfer portal.

Sears transferred to Alabama and immediately contributed, averaging 12.5 points and helping the Crimson Tide capture the 2023 SEC regular season and tournament titles. In his second season, he averaged 21.5 points and led Alabama in scoring, earning First Team All-SEC and Second Team All-America honors. He led Alabama to its first Final Four in program history in 2024, scoring 23 points against Clemson in the regional final. He returned for his final season, averaging 18.6 points and 5.1 assists, and again earned First Team All-SEC and First Team All-America honors.

Sears finished his Alabama career as the program's second all-time leading scorer and ended his collegiate career as the 19th all-time leading scorer in men's Division I history. He went undrafted in the 2025 NBA draft and joined the Wisconsin Herd of the NBA G League.

Sears is a scoring guard with deep three-point range, crafty drives, and a willingness to shoot off the dribble. He operates comfortably in pick-and-roll and has shown clutch shot-making throughout his college career. At the professional level, his offensive creativity and scoring instincts project well, though his size and defensive adaptability remain areas of development.
