Thanasis Antetokounmpo is a Nigerian-Greek professional basketball forward who entered the NBA as the 51st overall pick in the 2014 draft. A two-time Greek League champion with Panathinaikos, he won the 2021 NBA championship with the Milwaukee Bucks alongside his younger brother Giannis. Antetokounmpo has represented Greece internationally since 2016.

Antetokounmpo is a Nigerian-Greek forward who has navigated a winding path to the NBA since being selected in the second round of the 2014 draft. Known for his defensive energy and athleticism, he won an NBA championship with the Milwaukee Bucks, where he plays alongside his brother Giannis, a two-time MVP.

Born Athanasios Rotimi Antetokounmpo on July 18, 1992, in Athens, Greece, he is the second of five boys born to Nigerian parents Charles and Veronica Antetokounmpo. His brothers include Giannis, Kostas, and Alex, all of whom have played professional basketball.

Antetokounmpo began playing youth club basketball with Filathlitikos in 2008 and played with the senior men's team in the Greek fourth division in 2010–11. In 2011–13, he averaged 12.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.0 blocks in the Greek second division and was selected as a special participant in the 2013 Greek All-Star Game slam dunk contest.

He originally declared for the 2013 NBA draft alongside Giannis but withdrew on June 17, 2013. On November 1, 2013, the Delaware 87ers selected him ninth overall in the NBA D-League Draft. He averaged 12.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 50 games and was named to the 2014 NBA D-League All-Defensive third team.

The New York Knicks selected Antetokounmpo 51st overall in the 2014 NBA draft. He joined the Knicks for Summer League and was acquired by the Westchester Knicks in November 2014. In 47 games for Westchester, he averaged 13.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.7 blocks and was named to the 2015 NBA D-League All-Defensive second team. He signed with the Knicks in August 2015 but was waived in October.

Antetokounmpo won back-to-back Greek League championships with Panathinaikos in 2018 and 2019. He signed with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2019 and won the 2021 NBA championship alongside Giannis.
