Luka Doncic is putting his stamp on the Lakers before training camp even opens.
Doncic is reportedly hosting the entire Los Angeles roster in Slovenia for a four-day minicamp in August, with ESPN's Dave McMenamin reporting that the plan includes workouts, golf, sightseeing around Ljubljana and team bonding. It is a player-led trip, but not a casual one.
The timing is the story. The Lakers have been reshaped around Doncic, and the roster now needs real time together before the official schedule starts. Getting everyone to his home country gives the group a basketball week and a chemistry week in the same trip.
It also signals how Doncic is approaching this stage of his Lakers career. He is not just the franchise scorer. He is acting like the center of the program, pulling teammates into his world and setting the tone months before games count.
For Los Angeles, that matters. New rosters usually spend October figuring out voices, habits and pecking order. Doncic is trying to move that work into August.
