Kevin Huerter

Huerter is an American guard who has built a productive NBA career as a shooter and playmaker since being drafted in the first round in 2018. He has played for the Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, and Detroit Pistons, earning a reputation as a reliable floor-spacer and clutch performer in postseason settings.

Born Kevin Joseph Huerter on August 27, 1998, in Clifton Park, New York, he attended Shenendehowa High School in Saratoga County. He led the program to its second state championship and was named Mr. New York Basketball as a senior. He also won a Class AA state baseball championship with future MLB pitcher Ian Anderson. He committed to Maryland over 20 offers and was rated a four-star recruit.

At Maryland, Huerter averaged 9.3 points and 4.9 rebounds as a freshman and was selected to the United States team for the 2017 FIBA Under-19 World Cup. As a sophomore, he averaged 14.8 points and 5.0 rebounds and was named honorable mention All-Big Ten. He declared for the 2018 NBA draft.

The Atlanta Hawks selected Huerter with the 19th overall pick. He signed on July 1, 2018, and was voted to the All-Rookie Second Team. On January 11, 2019, he scored a season-high 29 points against Philadelphia. In game seven of the 2021 Eastern Conference Semifinals, he scored a playoff career-high 27 points to lead the Hawks to their first conference finals appearance since 2015. On October 18, 2021, he signed a four-year, million contract extension.

On July 6, 2022, the Hawks traded Huerter to the Sacramento Kings. On January 18, 2024, he scored a career-high 31 points. On March 21, 2024, he suffered a dislocated left shoulder and labral tear and underwent surgery, ending his season. On February 3, 2025, he was traded to the Chicago Bulls.
