Josh Green

Green is an Australian guard who entered the NBA as a first-round pick in 2020 and has developed into a defensive-minded wing and rotation player after a decorated high school career and a single season at Arizona. He has played for the Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Hornets and has represented Australia at two Olympic Games.

Born Joshua Benjamin Green on November 16, 2000, in Sydney, Australia, he is the son of an Australian mother and an American father who met playing semi-professional basketball. He grew up in Castle Hill and excelled in multiple sports, including Australian rules football, athletics, rugby, soccer, and swimming. He holds a world record for 7-year-olds in the 500-meter run. At age 10, he was selected to represent New South Wales in nine separate sports.

Green moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 2014 and attended Mountain Ridge High School before transferring to IMG Academy in Florida. He became a five-star draft prospect and led IMG to a national championship, earning MVP honors in the final game. He was selected for the 2019 McDonald's All-American Game and committed to Arizona over Villanova and North Carolina.

At Arizona, Green played one season and demonstrated defensive versatility, athleticism, and a willingness to take on tough assignments. He declared for the 2020 NBA draft, and the Dallas Mavericks selected him with the 18th overall pick. He has also played for the Charlotte Hornets. He won a bronze medal with Australia at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
