Stephen Curry

Curry is an American guard who has reshaped modern basketball through unprecedented shooting range, off-ball movement, and championship success. Drafted seventh overall by the Golden State Warriors in 2009, he has become the NBA's all-time leader in three-pointers made while winning four titles, two MVP awards, and a Finals MVP.

Born Wardell Stephen Curry II on March 14, 1988, in Akron, Ohio, he grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, where his father, Dell Curry, played for the Hornets. He attended Charlotte Christian School, where he was a three-year starter and earned all-conference, all-state, and first-team SAA All-American honors. The family briefly moved to Toronto, where Dell finished his career with the Raptors, and Stephen played for Queensway Christian College, leading them to an undefeated season.

Curry played three seasons at Davidson College, where he was named Conference Player of the Year twice, set the NCAA single-season record for three-pointers made with 162 as a sophomore, and led Division I in scoring as a junior. The Golden State Warriors selected him seventh overall in the 2009 NBA draft.

In 2014–15, Curry won his first MVP and led the Warriors to their first championship since 1975. In 2015–16, he became the first unanimous MVP in league history, leading the NBA in scoring with 30.1 points per game while shooting above 50–40–90. The Warriors won a record 73 games that season. He helped Golden State win back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018, then won his fourth championship and first Finals MVP in 2022 against Boston.

Curry is the NBA's all-time leader in three-pointers made, surpassing Ray Allen in 2021. He holds the record for most three-pointers in a single season (402 in 2015–16) and made at least one three-pointer in an NBA-record 268 consecutive games. He has the highest career free-throw percentage in NBA history (.912). He has also won two FIBA World Cup gold medals and a gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
